Back massage with warm stones at Manual Therapies in Frederiksberg

About the treatment

Some days, what you need most is warmth — the kind that warms your body and lets you finally breathe out. Hot Stone Massage combines the pleasure of hands-on massage with the smooth touch of heated basalt. The stones glide over your skin in long, flowing movements, gradually warming your back, arms and legs.

We use stones made specifically for massage, with smooth surfaces. We heat them under controlled conditions and check their temperature before they touch your skin. Basalt holds heat well and releases it slowly, giving the massage its gentle, warming character.

The warmth helps tense muscles relax, while attentive hands-on work complements the effect. Instead of sudden, forceful movements, there are gentle strokes, rhythmic rubbing and pressure adjusted to your preferences. Relaxing music, soft covers and a peaceful atmosphere make it easy to forget the world outside.

This is one of those treatments you may find yourself longing for in autumn and winter — after a rainy day, a long journey or a week full of activity. It warms and soothes you, giving you time to enjoy a deep rest.

At Manual Therapies in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, Hot Stone Massage is offered by Kamila and Besnik. Each of us brings our own experience and sensitivity to touch, while keeping what matters most in this ritual: comforting warmth, flowing movements and attention to your body.

Leave the cold at the door — let the warmth of basalt wrap around you and sink into blissful relaxation.

Is this treatment for you?

If the thought of warm covers, gentle music and a long massage already feels inviting, you will probably enjoy Hot Stone Massage.

This treatment is for physically active people and for anyone who simply needs to rest after an ordinary, demanding day. You do not need to train or have a particular concern. You can come for warmth, relaxation or the pleasure of a full-body massage.

It is especially suited to those who enjoy warmth, feel worn out and prefer comforting massage to intense pressure. Just tell us which areas need more attention, how much pressure you like and what you would rather avoid. We will take care of the rest.

If you are looking for focused work on a particular area of strain, we can help you choose between Hot Stone Massage, sports massage and deep tissue massage.

What happens during your visit?

We begin by getting to know your needs: where your body feels tense and what kind of rest you are looking for. We also briefly discuss your health and whether heat is suitable for you.

You then settle comfortably on the massage table. Your body stays covered, with only the area being massaged uncovered. The first hands-on movements establish a gentle rhythm, gradually joined by the warmth of the stones.

Smooth basalt glides over your skin, alternating with hands-on massage. Long movements cover larger areas, while smaller stones allow more focused work on selected areas. We adjust the temperature and pressure throughout, so the warmth feels pleasant from the first touch to the last.

Background music, repeated movements and warming touch form a complete ritual. You can close your eyes, drift off or simply enjoy the massage. For this time, you do not have to set the pace.

What can you expect?

The most distinctive feeling is the combination of comforting warmth, noticeable relaxation and simply letting go. Muscles that felt stiff and tense may feel freer, while your body may feel lighter and more rested.

Hot Stone Massage helps ease muscle tension and the discomfort that comes with it. The heat supports local circulation, while the gentle massage gives you time to rest after everyday demands and physical activity.

It is also a pleasant experience for the senses: the smooth stones, warmth on your skin and rhythmic touch can bring a sense of calm and reduce feelings of stress. After your session, you may feel like having a quiet evening and a longer rest.

You may notice:

  • relaxation in your back, shoulders and other areas being massaged;
  • less stiffness and greater freedom of movement;
  • relief from the discomfort of tense muscles;
  • a pleasant feeling of warmth throughout your body;
  • a sense of calm and a break from too much stimulation;
  • soft, cared-for skin.

The warmth stays with you after the massage — along with the pleasant feeling that, for an hour and a half, there was no need to rush anywhere.

FAQ

Good to know

Can the stones be too hot?

We always check the temperature of the stones and adjust it so that they feel pleasant against your skin. At the start, we discuss how you experience warmth, and throughout the massage we continue to respond to your feedback.

If a stone feels too warm, we cool it down or replace it. If you prefer more warmth, we can use a warmer stone after checking its temperature again. Everyone experiences heat differently — we adjust things throughout the session. A burning sensation is a signal to change the temperature immediately.

Should the massage use strong pressure?

No — Hot Stone Massage is, above all, a very pleasant, warming massage. The heat helps the muscles relax, allowing us to work gently without needing strong pressure.

You can choose a lighter touch or moderate intensity. The aim is satisfying relaxation that lets your body rest and allows you to breathe freely.

Does Hot Stone Massage support muscle recovery?

Yes — as part of resting after exercise. Relaxing the muscles, easing the feeling of tension and allowing time for deep relaxation create favourable conditions for recovery.

It is a pleasant choice for a quieter day between training sessions, especially if you enjoy warmth. We adjust the timing and intensity to the demands placed on your muscles; a recent injury or noticeable swelling calls for a different approach.

When might this session be a good choice?
  • Tension in the back, neck and shoulder muscles.
  • A feeling of muscle stiffness.
  • Physical and mental tiredness.
  • Stress and a need for calm.
  • A need for rest between training sessions.

How should you prepare for Hot Stone Massage?

Plan to arrive a few minutes early and choose comfortable clothing that is easy to put on afterwards. If you have been training or doing physical work, take a shower beforehand. Avoid alcohol and very heavy meals before your visit.

Tell us about any medical conditions, injuries, allergies, medication and recent treatments. Also let us know if you are particularly sensitive to temperature or have difficulty sensing it.

We provide towels, covers and all the equipment at the clinic. You bring your preferences — the pressure you enjoy, the areas that need attention and the wish for a long, warm massage.

What should you do afterwards, and how often can you return?

After your massage, choose something that lets you enjoy the rest a little longer: a gentle walk, a warm meal or an evening without a packed schedule. Drink water according to your body's needs and return to activity at your own pace.

You can come for a single session or make it a regular ritual. In autumn and winter, it can become your familiar place to warm up — 90 minutes to look forward to.
