Face Cupping Pro — lifting and lymphatic drainage — Manual Therapies, Frederiksberg

About the treatment

Face Cupping Pro is a facial massage performed using special glass cups designed specifically for the face, which operate on the principle of negative pressure. It combines drainage techniques with lifting action, aimed at reducing puffiness, enhancing facial contours, and restoring a refreshed appearance to the skin.

During the massage, cups gently lift the skin and glide across its surface. Carefully selected movements stimulate local circulation and support lymphatic drainage. The treatment focuses on areas prone to swelling and on loosening tense tissues.

It's a combination of intensive facial work and relaxation. The vacuum strength, pace, and massage techniques are tailored to your skin's condition and individual needs. It's crucial not to go to bed immediately after the massage—your lymphatic system has been stimulated and needs time to stabilize.

Your visit, step by step

Is this treatment for you?

Face Cupping Pro is for you if your face tends to be puffy, especially in the morning, you notice puffiness around your eyes or you feel like your facial contours have become less defined.

It's also a great option for those with tired, dull skin, lacking radiance and firmness. It's perfect for those looking for a fresher appearance, contouring their face, and relieving tension in the face, neck, and nape of the neck.

If stress and daily tension are taking their toll on your face, this treatment can be a moment of deep relaxation combined with skin care.

Before scheduling an appointment, please review the contraindications listed below. It's especially important to inform us of any predisposition to broken capillaries, bruising, or irritation. However, this doesn't preclude the treatment; quite the opposite. Face Cupping Pro strengthens the walls of blood vessels, and with gentle but systematic work, you can expect truly surprising results. Just trust the process.

What happens during your visit?

Like every appointment, we begin with a short conversation. We discuss your skin's needs, the areas requiring attention, and the desired results. We also check for any contraindications to the treatment.

Then, we thoroughly cleanse the skin and prepare it for the massage. We use high-quality skincare products tailored to your skin type.

The massage is performed using four sizes of glass cups specifically designed for the face, décolleté, and neck. The vacuum they generate gently lifts the skin, and the smooth movements allow for a combination of drainage and lifting techniques.

We work at a pace and intensity tailored to your tissues. In more sensitive areas, we use a gentler vacuum, constantly monitoring the skin's reaction.

Finally, we perform a treatment tailored to your needs and apply a cream with a UV filter, so you're ready to leave the clinic.

What results can you expect?

Lymphatic drainage of the face helps restore a feeling of lightness, relaxation, and a more rested appearance. The treatment focuses on reducing puffiness and promoting lymphatic drainage, which can help improve facial contours.

The massage stimulates local circulation, promoting oxygenation and nourishment of tissues. You may notice an improvement in skin tone, a natural glow, and smoother, more supple skin. Relaxation of tense muscles alleviates a tense facial expression, and the complementary care leaves skin soft and moisturized.

Immediately after the treatment, the face may appear pink. Temporary redness, minor bruising, or minor bruising may also appear, especially in sensitive areas. These may not occur in everyone—their appearance depends on factors such as the intensity of the vacuum, skin sensitivity, and the fragility of the capillaries. They are not the intended purpose of the treatment, but it's worth considering their potential occurrence when planning a visit before an important event. They are much more subtle than the marks left by cupping massage on the back.

Give your skin time to calm down. Minor marks may disappear within three to four days. If your skin is prone to vascular problems, be especially careful with the intensity of the treatment, but this treatment helps strengthen and improve the condition of vascular skin.

Face Cupping Pro combines perfectly with kinesiotaping—the application of special tapes to the face, neck, and décolletage that support lymphatic drainage.

If you'd like to regularly address swelling, tissue condition, and skin appearance, we'll work with you to schedule subsequent appointments. Face Cupping Pro fits well into a plan that includes various facial massages—we suggest including it every third treatment, alternating with other techniques tailored to your needs.

Your comfort is paramount to us. We discuss, determine the scope, and tailor the treatment plan and frequency to your needs.

FAQ

Good to know

Which variant should I choose?

Face Cupping Pro is a treatment aimed at lymphatic drainage of the face, reducing swelling and working on lymphatic stagnation.

You can complement it with an additional gentle Gua Sha massage, which soothes and complements the drainage. An additional option is Face Kinesiotaping—tapes applied to the face, neck, and décolleté are used to support lymphatic drainage.

This treatment also works well when combined with other facial massages: Japanese Kobido lifting, bucal massage, or Facemodeling®. This allows us to combine work on puffiness with muscle relaxation and contouring. It's a complete and comprehensive therapy for your face!

Can I ask for changes during the treatment?

Of course. Face Cupping Pro is a massage focused on comfort and pleasure, and individual stages can be modified to suit your needs.

If you need a break, a change of position, or a gentler vacuum, let us know right away. We'll respond to your concerns and adapt our workflow accordingly.

If you'd like a completely different treatment, please let us know before your appointment. If it fits within your booked time, we can change your booking accordingly.

How to prepare for a visit?

Please plan to arrive a few minutes before your scheduled time. Please let us know about any ailments, allergies, or previous treatments that may affect your massage. It's best to let us know if you have any special needs before your appointment.

If your skin is prone to allergic reactions or you have severe allergies, please bring your own, tried-and-true skincare products. We use only the highest quality products, but they may also contain ingredients your skin may not tolerate.

Before your treatment, on the day of your appointment, avoid alcohol and heavy meals. Remember to drink water regularly before and after your massage. You can also choose well-tolerated herbal teas and infusions.

Take care of your personal hygiene. If you arrive after a workout or intense activity, shower and change into fresh clothes beforehand—this ensures both you and your therapist are comfortable. If you're a man, remember to come to your massage without beard, as cupping won't work properly with a beard or mustache.

Before your facial massage, wash your hair and scalp on the day of your appointment or the day before. We also work with your scalp, so it should be clean, free of accumulated sweat, sebum, and styling products. During your session, we try to limit contact of skincare products with your hair.

Towels, sheets, and all necessary accessories are waiting for you at the clinic. Please arrive in comfortable clothing.

We finish each facial massage with the application of a UV filter cream. You'll leave with well-cared-for skin and sun protection, ready for the rest of the day.

Who is this treatment for? Indications

Face Cupping Pro is a proposition for both women and men (remember to come for your massage without beard!) who want to work on puffiness, skin appearance and facial contours.

We especially recommend it for:

recurrent facial swelling, especially after waking up;

lymphatic congestion and feeling of heaviness in tissues;

swelling and bags under the eyes;

stagnation under the chin, the so-called "double chin"

less pronounced facial contour;

loss of skin firmness and elasticity;

tired, gray skin lacking radiance;

tension in the muscles of the face, neck and nape;

the need to combine drainage with a modeling and relaxing massage.

Can I massage my face if I have Botox or fillers?

After an appropriate break and in accordance with the recommendations of the physician performing the injections, we can perform intensive lifting massages. In our practice, we wait at least 4 weeks after botulinum toxin injection before performing a facial massage, and 2 to 4 months after filler injection. The timing and scope of the treatment are individually selected. Botox temporarily limits the activity of selected muscles, reducing their contractions and the associated facial expressions.

This contributes to a slight reduction in blood circulation, which in turn reduces proper oxygenation and nourishment of the skin. Massage perfectly improves these factors and complements proper care and work on tension in other areas of the face. Remember that by excluding some muscles, other muscles in the area can partially take over the functions of the "disabled" ones. Often, after many years of Botox use, thinner, more delicate, or "parchment-like" skin is noticeable, so to prevent this, regular facial massages are recommended.

After fillers, it is especially important to consider the type of preparation and the site of its injection. Deep manual work requires prior consultation with the physician performing the treatment. Before your appointment, always let us know exactly when and where the injections were performed, and what preparations were used. This will allow us to develop an appropriate plan, select the appropriate techniques and pressure intensity, and ensure the comfort of your skin and tissues.

When should I reschedule my appointment? Contraindications

Read the list below before booking. Contact us first if any of the points apply to you. Some conditions require consultation with a doctor or adjustments to the treatment.

  • Allergic or infectious skin inflammation.
  • Pustular and purulent acne.
  • Active rosacea.
  • Highly vascular skin.
  • Lichen.
  • Epidermal breakdown, open wounds, and unhealed lesions.
  • Dermatological conditions requiring pre-treatment evaluation.

Oral cavity and teeth

  • Purulent conditions of the oral cavity, particularly the tonsils.
  • Inflammation of the oral cavity, particularly the gums.
  • Canker sores.
  • Purulent lesions around the teeth.
  • Recent tooth extractions and unhealed areas following dental procedures.
  • Oral conditions requiring assessment before intraoral massage.

General condition and infections

  • First trimester of pregnancy - in our practice, we do not perform the Face Cupping Pro procedure during this period.
  • High-risk pregnancy.
  • Fever and flu-like symptoms.
  • Enlarged lymph nodes of unknown cause.
  • Severe allergic conditions.
  • Serious medical conditions requiring specialized treatment.
  • Diseases and symptoms of unknown cause requiring diagnostics.

Cancer and unexplained changes

  • Cancer, including lymphoma.
  • Post-surgical treatment of cancer—until consent is obtained from the treating physician.
  • Nodules of unknown origin.

Heart and circulatory system

  • Aneurysms.
  • Uncontrolled hypertension.
  • Severe heart disease.
  • Suspected myocardial infarction requires urgent medical attention.
  • Heart defects requiring medical consultation before surgery.
  • Advanced atherosclerosis.
  • Thrombosis.

Other conditions requiring consultation

  • Hyperthyroidism—particularly in relation to neck massage.
  • Paralysis or other dysfunction of the trigeminal nerve or its branches.
  • Mental illness, if the current condition impedes informed consent, contact, or safe conduct of the procedure.

Aesthetic medicine and dental procedures

  • Thread lifts — we do not recommend facial massage for at least 6–12 months after this procedure.
  • Botox — in our practice, we wait at least 4 weeks after botulinum toxin injection, unless the doctor recommends a longer interval. Botox is not a contraindication; massage is recommended to activate inactive tissues and support their nourishment once the recovery period has been observed.
  • Fillers — in our practice, we wait 2–4 months after injection. The exact timing depends on the product, injection site and recommendations of the doctor who performed the treatment.

Always inform us about any previous surgical procedures, aesthetic medicine procedures, and dental treatments—even those performed a long time ago. Your allergies and sensitivities are also important information. This will help us determine the appropriate intensity and scope of treatment.

How often can I repeat this treatment?

The frequency of cupping sessions is determined by the tendency to edema, the condition of the skin, and its response to the vacuum. Gentle drainage can require more frequent sessions, while more intensive cupping requires adequate rest to allow the tissues to calm down.

You can include Face Cupping Pro as every third treatment in your regular facial massage schedule, alternating with Kobido, Bucal Massage, or Facemodeling®. If puffiness is your primary concern, we can individually schedule more frequent appointments.

We won't perform another session on skin with persistent irritation, bruising, or other signs of blemishes. Regularity is important, but equally important is adapting the intervals to your skin's needs.

Is this treatment recommended for pregnant women?

At our clinic, we do not recommend Face Cupping Pro during pregnancy. For expectant mothers, we primarily recommend the Pregnancy massage — ritual.

This is a complete 90-minute ritual that includes a gentle dry body brushing, a gentle pregnancy massage, and a moisturizing facial. We tailor each step and body position to your well-being, using special pregnancy pillows.

We welcome you from the second trimester onwards, provided there are no contraindications. Before your first visit, we encourage you to consult with your doctor.

Can I cancel or postpone my appointment?

Yes. If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please let us know at least 24 hours before your scheduled treatment. You can call +45 31 70 44 50, email hello@manualtherapies.dk, or use the booking system.

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a 50% fee. Cancellations without prior notice may incur a 100% fee.

If something unexpected happens, please contact us directly and we will work together to find a solution.
